At Heath we believe that the skill of writing equips the children with a voice to share their ideas throughout the curriculum. Our aim is to develop a school of extraordinary writers who have flair and a passion for articulating their ideas and views. Children will be exposed to a range of genres and learn the toolkits for each so that they can become successful. Each genre is taught through a planned sequence of lessons using essential toolkit skills and careful modelling by the teacher. They are given opportunities to reflect on and edit their work through self and peer assessment. The teaching of writing will be enhanced by the use of high-quality vocabulary and texts explored through our reading lessons.
