Junior Road Safety Officers

Our Junior Road Safety Officers

At Heath, our Junior Road Safety Officers are a group of Year 6 children who have the opportunity to get involved in road safety work at school, delivering assemblies to peers and taking part in initiatives in the wider community.

What is important to us?

  • We promote Road Safety when walking, cycling and scooting.
  • Remind everyone of the importance of seatbelts and helmets
  • We set a good example of being safe near the roads

Intitiatives we take part in

  • Road Safety Week - This is a road safety awareness campaign that aims to teach people how to stay safe on and around the roads.

  • The Big Walk and Wheel - Our school takes part in the Big Walk and Wheel, which is organised by the Junior Road Safety Officers. We encourage  children to walk or wheel to school, for five days. This is an inter-school walking, wheeling, scooting and cycling to school competition.

  • Beep Beep Day - Beep Beep Day is a road safety awareness day for young children.  The Junior Road Safety Officers work with the Reception children to help them learn basic road safety skills.

Our Acheivements and Awards

  • Our JRSOs had a meeting with MP, Dr Dan Poulter, and local councillor, Debbie McCallum, to discuss road safety outside the school.
